Abogeharan
From Simon Online
Abogeharan arabice scarabeus, ut in libro de doctrina arabica.
Apparatus:
Abogeharan (-rã H) BCH e | Abogebaram (-rã AD) AD f {'h' misread as 'b'}
Translation:
Abogeharan is Arabic for Latin scarabeus {"dung beetle"}, as it is said in the liber de doctrina Arabica.
Commentary:
Simon's often quoted source, the Liber de doctrina arabica, has so far not been identified, but cf. what must be a similar glossary/dictionary - Vocabulista - (ed. Schiaparelli) [[1]]: p.4: ﺍﺑﻮ ﺟﻌﺮﺍﻥ /abū ğiʕrān / Scarabeus; p.571: SCARABEUS ﺍﺑﻮ ﺟﻌﺮﺍﻥ /abū ğiʕrān/ - ﺍﺑﻮ ﻓﺴﺎﺱ /abū fassās/ - ﺟﻌﻞ /ğuʕal/
Cf. Wehr: ﺍﺑﻮ ﺟﻌﺭﺍﻥ /abū ğiʕrān/ "scarabaeus, dung beetle". < √ğʕr "to drop its manure (animal)".
