Abogeharan arabice scarabeus, ut in libro de doctrina arabica.

Apparatus:

Abogeharan (-rã H) BCH e | Abogebaram (-rã AD) AD f {'h' misread as 'b'}

Translation:

Abogeharan is Arabic for Latin scarabeus {"dung beetle"}, as it is said in the liber de doctrina arabica.

Commentary:

Simon's often quoted source, the liber de doctrina arabica, has so far not been identified, but cf. what must be a similar glossary/dictionary - Vocabulista - ed. Schiaparelli (1871) [[1]]: p. 4: ﺍﺑﻮ ﺟﻌﺮﺍﻥ /abū ğuʕrān/ Scarabeus; p. 571: SCARABEUS ﺍﺑﻮ ﺟﻌﺮﺍﻥ /abū ğuʕrān/ - ﺍﺑﻮ ﻓﺴﺎﺱ /abū fassās/ - ﺟﻌﻞ /ğuʕal/. Cf. Corriente (1989: 67): *JcR: >abū jucrān< escarabajo. [scarabeus].

Cf. Wehr (1985): ﺍﺑﻮ ﺟﻌﺭﺍﻥ /abū ğiʕrān/ "scarabaeus, dung beetle". < √ğʕr "to drop its manure (animal)".
