Bahar per hain alkauem arabice stercus animalium.

Dahhaoui (2001: 209) established this text on the basis of his collations:

Bahar per ham alkauem arabice stercus animalium;

and he notes these vvll. - not all shown - for: Bahar] baharum …, barhar …, bachar… ; for ham] h; for alkauem] alchauen …, alhauen …, halhauen…, alkauen …, alhanem …, alham \uen/; om. ….


Translation:

Bahar - spelled with {the letter} hain - and alkavem {i.e. Bahar alkavem} is Arabic for Latin stercus animalium {"animal droppings"}.


Commentary:

ﺑﻌﺮ ﺍﻟﺤﻴﻮﺍﻥ /baʕar al-ḥayawān/ (lit.) "dung of animals"

Wehr: ﺑﻌﺮ /baʕr, baʕar/ "droppings, dung (of animals)"

ﺣﻴﻮﺍﻥ /ḥayawān/ "animal, beast; coll. animals"
