Translation:

Barob is "eggs" in Arabic.

Commentary:

Probably from Arabic قوب /qūb/, 'egg' (Lane, also 'chick'), with the preposition bi. Because of misplacement alphabetically, and Arabic root, Simon's text likely read 'bacob' originally.
