Translation:

Bondoch is Arabic for Latin avellana {"hazelnut"}.

Commentary:

Wehr (1976): ﺑﺒﺪﻖ /bunduq/ "hazelnut(s), filberts; hazel, hazel tree". Siggel (1950: 21) s.v. ﺑﺒﺪﻖ /bunduq/ Corylus Avellana (Betulac.), Haselnuß; … v. lat. pontica {"hazelnut"}
This word is loaned ultimately from Greek Ποντικόν /Pontikón/, i.e. "from the Pontus region".
