Digegi arabice gallina.

Apparatus:

Digegi AC e | Dyagregi e

Dyagregi shows contamination with the many previous entries starting with Dya- and also with the immediately preceding entry Difrigis, which e writes as Dyafrigis uel difrigis, which is from Greek διφρυγές /diphrygés/.

gallina AC e | galina (-lĩa B) B f

Translation:

Digegi is Arabic for Latin gallina {"hen, chicken").

Commentary:

Wehr (1976): ﺩﺧﺎﺧﺔ /daǧāǧa/ "hen, chicken"; ﺩﺧﺎﺥ /daǧāǧ/ "chickens".

A vocalisation closer to Simon’s is found in Vocabulista, ed. Schiaparelli (1871: 98): ﺩﺧﺎﺧﺔ /diğāğa/ Galina [[1]]; ed. Schiaparelli (1871: 404): ﺩﺧﺎﺧﺔ /diğāğa/ ﺩﺧﺎﺥ /diğāğ/ GALINA [[2]].

Lane (1984: 852), has both vocalisations.
