Furogi arabice gallus.

Apparatus:

Whole entry om. f

Translation:

Furogi is Arabic for Latin gallus "cockerel".

Commentary:

Cf. Wehr (1976): ﻓﺮﻮﺝ /farrūğ/ "chick, young chicken, pullet".
A vocalisation closer to Simon’s is found in de Alcalá (1883): gallo {i.e. "cockerel”} furrúch [[1]], which is cited in Dozy (1877-81: II.248): ﻓﺮﻮﺝ /furrūğ/ “coq” as his source.
