Translation:

Arabic guardenegi is a kind of ophthalmia with a big swelling; it is called chimosis in Greek. Cf. entry Cimosis above.


Commentary:

guardenegi:
ﻭﺭﺩﻳﻨﺞ /wardīnağ/, Dozy (1877-81: II.796): fongus hématoïde {sic!} de l’oil, chemosis, espèce d’ophthalmie. {i.e. "fungus haematodes of the eye, chemosis, a kind of ophthalmia"}.
