Hasfor is Arabic for small birds.

Wehr (1976): ﻋﺼﻔﻮﺭ /ʕuṣfūr/ "sparrow, any small bird".

A vocalisation closer to Simon’s is found in the Vocabulista glossary, ed. Schiaparelli (1871: 143): ﻋﺼﻔﻮﺭ /ʕuṣfūr/ Paser [[1]], but (1871: 512) PASER ﺮﻮﻔﺼﻋ /ʕaṣfūr/ [[2]]; n.b. Latin passer denotes "sparrow, any small bird".

This vocalisation is also attested for Andalusi Arabic in Pedro de Alcalá (1883: 171): chiriuia azfóra {n.b. Mod. Spanish chirivía denotes "wagtail"; azfóra nomen unitatis} [[3]].
