Hasialrahy: arabice virga pastoris hasahelrai Stephanus scripsit.

Translation:

Hasialrahy is Arabic for Latin virga pastoris {(lit.) “shepherd’s crook”}. Stephanus writes the name of this plant as hasahelrai.


Commentary:

Siggel p.20: ﻋﻀﺎ ﺍﻟﺮﺍﻋﻰ ... /ʕaṣā ar-rāʕī/ = ... Polygonum aviculare etc. {i.e. "common knotgrass"}.

Wehr: ﻋﻀﺎ /ʕaṣan/ {√ʕṣw }“staff, rod; wand, stick …”.

ﺭﺍﻋﻰ /rāʕin/ “shepherd, herdsman; guardian, keeper, protector; patron, sponsor; pastor (Chr.)”
