Ierad arabice locusta liber de doctrina arabica.

arabica ABC efj | greca p

Ierad is Arabic for locust as stated in the Liber de doctrina arabica.

Cf. Wehr (1976): ﺟﺮﺎﺩ /ğarād/ "locust(s)". Siggel (1950: 25): ﺟﺮﺎﺩ /ğarād/ Gryllus migratorius, Wanderheuschrecke {i.e. "migratory locust"}.

Simon's often quoted source, the Liber de doctrina arabica, has so far not been identified, but cf, what must be a similar glossary/dictionary - Vocabulista - ed. Schiaparelli (1871: 79) ﺟﺮﺍﺩﺓ /ğarāda/ Loqusta [[1]]; (1871: 460) LOCUSTA ﺟﺮﺍﺩﺓ ﺟﺮﺍﺩ /ğarāda ğarād/ [[2]].
