Translation:

Kafraryeudi is Arabic for Latin aspaltum iudaicum {i.e. "Jew's pitch"}, also called nafta in Arabic and in Greek napta, etc.

Commentary:

Cf. Siggel p. 86: ﻗﻔﺮ ﺍﻟﻴﻬﻭﺩ /qafr al-yahūd/ "Judenpech" {i.e. lit. "pitch of the Jews}, and with nisbah: ﻗﻔﺮ ﺍﻟﻴﻬﻭﺩﻯ /qafr al-yahūdīy/.

Wehr: ﻧﻔﻄ /nafṭ/ "naphtha, petroleum". Siggel p. 89: ﻧﻔﻄ /nafṭ/ Naphta, Erdöl, Rohpetrolium {i.e. "naphtha, crude oil, crude petroleum"}.

Greek: νάφθα /náphtha/ "naphtha". The originally Greek sound combination /-phth-/ as in diphthongus, ophthalmia is often rendered by Simon with /-pt-/ as in diptongus, optalmia, and napta and above. Cf modern Spanish diptongo.

For further information see Aspaltum, also: Bitumen iudaicum, Asfaltos, Nafra.
