Apparatus:
Kristalodis AC | Kristalodi B f | Kristallaydes e
glatialis (-lis AB) ABC | glacialis (- lis f) ef
glatie ABC | glacie ef
Translation:
Kristalodis is Greek for Latin glatialis {"icy; clear"}, i.e. full of ice.
Commentary:
Greek κρυσταλλώδης /krystallṓdēs/ means "icy, glacial; (of water) clear" (LSJ)
Medieval Greek, which Simon portrays, had undergone a series of sound changes since classical times: υ > ι {/y/ > /i/}, λλ > λ {/ll/ > /l/}, η > ι {/ē/ > /i/}.
