Lapis emathites est dictu sanguineus aut quod fricatura eius sanguineum colorem reddit: aut quod omni fluxui sanguinis competit.

Translation:

The emathites stone in translation simply means "bloody, bloodlike {sc. stone}" {i.e. from Greek /haîma/ "blood"}, either because rubbing it brings on a red colour or because it is suitable for {stemming} a blood-flow.
