Translation:
Mizmar is Arabic for Latin fistula {"pipe, tube"}, which is called in folk language zamara; and mizmar is a component of Arabic mizmar arahai, which translates into Latin as fistula pastoris (lit. "shepherd's pipe"}.

Siggel (1950: 40): ﺫﻣﺮﺓ ﺍﻟﺭﺍﻋﻰ /zammārat ar-rāʕī/ = ﻣﺬﻣﺎﺭ ﺍﻟﺭﺍﻋﻰ /mizmār ar-rāʕī/ Alisma plantago. (1950: 68): ﻣﺬﻣﺎﺭ ﺍﻟﺭﺍﻋﻰ /mizmār ar-rāʕī/ = ﺫﻣﺮﺓ ﺍﻟﺭﺍﻋﻰ /zammārat ar-rāʕī/
Lane (1984): ﻣﺬﻣﺎﺭ /mizmār/ "a musical reed or pipe". Wehr (1976): ﻣﺬﻣﺎﺭ /mizmār/ "single-pipe wood-wind instrument resembling the oboe".
Wehr (1976): ﺫﻣﺮﺓ /zammāra/, /zummāra/ (eg. {=Egyptian}) "a wood-wind instrument consisting of two pipes, related to the clarinet; siren". Lane (1984): "double reed-pipe".
