Omos grece humerus.

Translation:

Omos is Greek for Latin humerus {"shoulder"}.

Commentary:

Greek ὦμος /ômos/ means "shoulder with the upper arm", Latin umerus. The form humerus, although already used in antiquity, is hypercorrect. It means "the bone of the upper arm" as well as the "shoulder". The purists in antiquity restricted umerus to humans and used armus for the equivalent in animals.

For the history of the upper arm/shoulder anatomical terminology in Latin see André (1991: 82-6).
