Ptysis sputa ipsa sputamina.

Apparatus:

Ptysis AC | Ptisis B ef

{ipsa} s. {= scilicet} add. f

Translation:

Ptysis is Greek for Latin sputa {"spit, spittle"} or sputamina meaning the same.

Commentary:

Greek πτύσις /ptýsis/, itacist /ptísis/, means "spitting", cf πτύω /ptýō/ "I spit out", in Latin sputum, which can also be used in the plural: sputa. Simon offers another synonym, late Latin sputamen.
