Rhipos grece sordities.

Entry om. e

Rhipos AC | Ripos B e

sordities AC | sordicies B e

Translation:

Rhipos is Greek for Latin sordities {"dirt, filth"}.

Commentary:

Cf. Greek ῥύπος /rhýpos/ "dirt, filth; sordidness, meanness". Simon's transcription shows the late Greek sound change υ > ι {/y/ > /i/}; in the Classic period Greek Υ,υ was pronounced like French 'u', German 'ü'.
