cathaf AC | cataf B fp | chataf ms. e | kataf j
sarmachum (-chũ e) C ef | sarmacũ A | sermacũ B | sermachuʒ j | semachũ p

Translation:

Sarmech and cathaf are Arabic for Latin atriplex {"orache"}; but Stephanus writes sarmachum.

Commentary:

Stephanus in his Breviarium writes: Andrafaxis ... atriplex ... sermacũ catafum [[1]]

Sarmech:
Cf. Siggel (1950: 41): ﺳﺮﻣﺞ /sarmağ/, ﺳﺮﻣﻖ /sarmaq/, Atriplex hortensis (Chenopodiac.), Gartenmelde {i.e. "orache"}.
Cf also Renaud & Colin (1934: 158-9). “363. Sarmaq Arroche {“orache”}

Simon is obviously transcribing the variant ﺳﺮﻣﻖ /sarmaq/. The word is of Persian origin, cf. Steingass (1892: 678), who mentions these variants: سرمج /sarmağ/ "Orage; a kind of ivy"; ibid. سرمق /sarmaq/, /surmaq/ "A. Orage, a herb; the herb all-heal" and ibid. سرمك /sarmak/ "Orage".

cathaf:
see Kataf (1).
