Stroffi grece conversio.
Apparatus:
Stroffi ACD | Strofi B fjp | Strophi ms. e
Translation:
Stroffi is Greek for Latin conversio ("turning round, revolving"}.
Commentary:
Stroffi:
Cf. Greek στροφή /strophḗ/ means "turning, twist". Simon's rendering is quasi phonetic. In accord with his time he shows the itacist pronunciation /strofí/ with the sound change η > ι { = /ē/ > /i/}. Also double consonants were no longer pronounced differently in most Greek dialects since the Koine Greek period. The unetymological "ff" is a mere scribal whim.
