Tair arabice avis liber de doctrina arabica.

Apparatus:

Tair ABC ejp | Tai f {typesetting error}
arabica | greca arabica j

Translation:

Tair is Arabic for Latin avis {"bird"} according to the liber de doctrina arabica.

Commentary:

Simon’s often quoted source, the liber de doctrina arabica, has so far not been identified, but cf. what must be a similar glossary/dictionary - Vocabulista - ed. Schiaparelli (1871: 137) [[1]]: ﻃﻴﺮ /ṭair/ Avis, volare [[2]]; (1871: 263): AVIS ﻃﻴﺮ /ṭair/ … [[3]].

Cf. Wehr (1976): ﻃﻴﺮ /ṭair/ "bird(s)"; also: ﻂﺎﺋﺮ /ṭāʔir/ "bird".
