Tarfa arabice est tamariscus.
Apparatus:
est om. f
Translation:
Tarfa is Arabic for Latin tamariscus {"tamarisk"}.
Commentary:
Wehr (1976): ﻃﺮﻓﺎﺀ /ṭarfāʔ/ "tamarisk"; Siggel (1950: 50): ﻃﺮﻓﺎﺀ /ṭarfāʔ/, ﻃﺮﻓﺔ /ṭarfa/; Tamarix gallica, Tamariske {i.e. "tamarisk"}.
Botanical identification:
Following Siggel’s identification it is Tamarix gallica L., the "common" or "French tamarisk", see [[1]], but according to LSJ it is the "oriental tamarisk", a vernacular name that is usually applied to Tamarix aphylla (L.) Karst. [[2]].
