Tufah or tofah is in Latin poma or mala {both meaning "apple"}. Stephanus writes tufahum.
Commentary:
Wehr: ﺗﻔﺎﺡ /tuffāḥ/ "apple(s)". Siggel p.23: ﺗﻔﺎﺡ /tuffāḥ/ Pirus malus, Apfel {"apple"}.
Simon is using here typically late Latin fruit names, i.e. poma, originally from a neuter singular pomum, meaning "any fruit: apples, cherries, nuts, berries, figs, dates, etc." (cf. under pomum, Lewis & Short), but becoming a feminine singular poma, as witnessed in its French reflex la pomme, etc., cf. Väänänen p.102, § 216. Similarly mala is from a singular malum "apple".
