Tut
From Simon Online
Tut arabice morum celsi tutum Stephanus scripsit similiter.
Apparatus:
similiter AC | om. B efjp
Translation:
Tut is Arabic for the true morum {"mulberry"}. Stephanus similarly writes tutum.
Commentary:
Tut:
Wehr (1976): ﺗﻮﺙ /tūt/ "mulberry, mulberry tree". Siggel (1950: 24): ﺗﻮﺙ /tūt/ Morus, Maulbeere u. Maulbeerbaum {i.e. "mulberry" and "mulberry tree"}.
Stephanus in the Breviarium writes: morea - tuthũ
[[1]].
tuthũ is tuth {a variant spelling of tut-} + the latinising ending -um.
N.b. μορέα /moréa/ is Greek for "mulberry".
