Gobeyra arabice mespilla a gobar quod est pulvis quasi pulverulenta.

Apparatus:

Gobeyra AC | Gobeira B f | Gobiera (-eta ?) e

mespilla ACD e | mespila B f

a gobar ABC e | acolar f

Translation:

Gobeyra is Arabic for Latin mespilla, derived from Arabic gobar, which means "powder", almost like the "dusty {sc. tree}".

Commentary:

Siggel (1950: 54): ﻏﺒﺎﺭﻳﺔ /ġabāriya/ e. Mespilus (Ros.). {i.e. "a Mespilus = medlar species"}. The word is said to have derived from ﻏﺒﺎﺭ /ġubār/ "dust" (Wehr).
