Translation:

Kazef is Arabic for Latin testa figuli {lit. "baked clay vessel of the potter", i.e. "baked pottery vessel"}, which is also called xachf {in Arabic}.

Commentary:

Kazef:
Cf. Wehr (1976): ﺧﺰﻑ /ḫazaf/ "pottery, earthenware; porcelain, china; ceramics".
Siggel (1950: 96): ﺧﺰﻑ /ḫazaf/ Tongefäß im allgemeinen {i.e. "pottery vessel in general"}.

xachf:
cf. Wehr (1976): ﺷﻗﻒ /šaqaf/ (coll.; n.un. ﺔ) "(pot)sherds".
Siggel (1950: 98): ﺷﻗﻔﺔ /šaqafa/ Tonscherbe {i.e. "potsherd"}.

However, a vocalisation closer to Simon’s form xachf is found in Vocabulista, ed. Sciaparelli (1871: 125): ﺷﻗﻒ /šaqf/ … Testa, tinpanum [[1]]; (1871: 607): TEXTA ﺷﻗﻒ /šaqf/ … [[2]]. Cf. Corriente (1989: 168), s.v. *ŠQF.

Also in Pedro de Alcalá (1883: 411) techo de casa {ie. “roof of house”} çaqf
Tejado o techo {“roof”, "roof-tile"?} çaqf [[3]]

Dozy (1877-81: I.774) lists ﺷﻗﻒ /šaqaf/ but mentions a "vulg." form ﺷﻗﻒ /šaqf/ quoting i.a. Vocabulista as one of his sources.

Cf. also Corriente (1997: 286) s.v. *(ŠQF)
