Hi! Patients during a panic attack (sometimes hysteria) usually hyperventilate. It causes pH-changes in the blood and results spasms in the sceletal muscles. In serious cases opisthotonus occurs (I have seen such a case). So it is definitely connected with psychiatric conditions, but not because of Charcot and it develops still more often in neurological diseases. --ZNora 09:39, 17 April 2013 (BST)
